IN BRIEF

Jones named

top assessor

Trina Jones, Van Buren County assessor, was awarded a plaque Oct. 14 by Hardie Reynolds, president of the Arkansas Chapter of International Association of Assessing Officers, at a luncheon in Hot Springs.

Jones was named the Arkansas’ 2009 Outstanding Assessor by a majority vote. Votes were taken from all 75 county assessors in the state and staff members of the office of Assessment Coordination Department in Little Rock.

During the luncheon, Reynolds praised Jones for her work on the huge job of assessing Equipment and Production for the gas wells now operating in Van Buren County.

Jones said she was honored to have been chosen, but that she was just trying to do a good job for her county. Jones is in her second term as county assessor.
