The Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual banquet earlier this month at the Clinton High School cafeteria.

The chamber awarded 2014 scholarships to three seniors from the county. They were: Hunter Gray from Shirley High School, son Jeffery and Debbie Gray; Garrett Collums from South Side-Bee Branch High School, son of Sam Collums and Kristen Hensley; and Cameron Elaine Beem from Clinton High School, daughter of Richard and Beverly Beem.

This year’s business award went to Family Hair & Boutique owner Gladys Maxwell. She is a longtime chamber member and has not only maintained her shop downtown, but also expanded her business by creating a boutique.

The Volunteer of the Year Trophy went to the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department. Some of their activities last year were

Scare on the Square and fund raising for the Angel Tree project.
