Nearly 40 enthusiastic quilters were eager to start a new year of quilting at Piecemakers first monthly meeting of 2104 on Wednesday, Jan. 15. Linda LaDoux, club vice president, welcomed returning members and three new members. Victoria Banks, club president, expressed sincere appreciation to Doris Brown who has served as the club treasurer for 10 years. She is retiring from this position and we welcome Pam Davis as our new treasurer. Linda announced the club officers and upcoming programs for 2014. Pam gave the treasurers report. Victoria conducted the business meeting.

Rene Riggan showed the donation quilt for the Clinton Library fundraiser raffle. The blocks were from the 4-patch posey challenge the club members made. Eloise Brown brought the 2013 Mystery Block of the Month to a close by inviting everyone who had completed their quilts to show them off. Linda LaDoux introduced the 2014 Block of the Month. It will be a Star Sampler with Log Cabin setting blocks. There will be a different star every month. January’s block is a 9-patch star.

Ramona Johnson, Jan Savu, and Kay Otis provided information about Retreat coming up in February at Mount Eagle. Brenda Dunlap will lead the February Sit & Sew and we will be making the Silly Goose Quilt. Ida Holt gave members a last chance for White Elephant items left over from last year. We will start fresh in February, so bring in your donation items.

The Sit & Sew was a Lined Drawstring Bag led by Jan Savu. What a clever and easy way to assemble a bag.

Piecemakers next meeting will be 10 a.m. Feb. 19, 2014, at the Methodist Church in Clinton. Anyone interested in quilting is welcome.
