Highway 110

Big storms moved through this week. We had some damage up here on the hill. Lets hope the rain replenishes our water table. I actually like rainy days in small doses. Seems like days are getting a tad longer and staying a little lighter out in the evenings and makes us long for spring.

Many people up here have been battling with the flu and pneumonia. We wish Elika and Lathan Tacker a speedy recovery after a few runs to Children’s Hospital. Get better sweet babies.

On our birthday notes: Happy Birthday to Crystal Barnett on Jan. 28. Also Gavin Smith will turn 9 on Feb. 7. Happy birthday, Gavin.

Barb McKinney had a bad spell of sickness. She is home from the hospital now. Get to feeling better, Barb.

James and Amanda (Holley) Berger are expecting their second child (Hunter Aden) in April. Little Shane will have a baby brother to play with. The baby shower is set for March 2, 2013, at the Petit Jean Electric Corp. building at 270 Quality Drive in Clinton. Time is 1-3 p.m. Family and friends are welcome.

Plant Baptist is still doing its renovations on the new class room building and the fellowship hall. What a big difference it makes.

Fire dues for the Highway 110 VFD are now due. If you live in this district and did not receive a fire dues notice, contact me and I’ll get it taken care of.

Also the department has started its next FireWise project on Sally Flat Road with removing an unsafe and fire hazard barn. A great turnout of eight firefighters showed up to work and made terrific progress. One more workday will finish it. Date will be set at the next meeting Feb. 7.

Have a great week and send some news to James Burns at 592-3935 so we will have an interesting article next week.

This last week we have had nice, warm weather, cold and foggy weather and severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings. The weather is always a topic of conversation and one thing that Arkansans can agree on is that if you don’t like the weather right now, just wait about 15 minutes and it will change. If you still want more info on the weather then we can always ask a groundhog or my granddaughter Tayler when she was about 5, who said, "It’s going to rain, because the clouds are all stuck together."

This might be a good time to remind you to sign up for Arkansas Code Red and our Smart911 system. It’s simple and it’s free and a good way to help keep you and your loved ones safe in severe weather conditions and when emergency medical services are needed. To sign up for Code Red call 884-6004 or 745-2443 and for the Smart911 system visit their website at Www.smart911.com.

If you have news and live in the Dennard area, call Jackie Sikes 253-4716.
