Santa visits school on Literacy Night

Thursday evening of Dec. 13, Shirley students were greeted in the lobby of the Glen Hackett Field House by a special visitor … Santa Claus! (aka Carl Trahan-True.)

Santa brought books, cookies and hot chocolate for all of the good little Blue Devils. The students browsed through a variety of titles such as The Berenstain Bears, The Magic Treehouse, Tuck Everlasting, Old Yellar, and The Hunger Games.

They enjoyed hearing teachers talk about the different books while helping them choose titles based on their interests and reading level.

Santa Claus also had his picture made with students and talked with them about the importance of reading and helping out around the house.
