The Van Buren County Literacy Council hosted a Christmas potluck and party for its tutors, board members, students and their families on Dec. 3rd at the Petit Jean Community Room. After a delicious potluck meal, a lively gift exchange game was enjoyed by all.

There are almost 2,000 adults in Van Buren County that need basic literacy skills, and the Literacy Council provides learning materials and private tutoring free of charge. The council depends on volunteers from the community to bring the gift of reading to those in need. For further information on becoming a volunteer tutor, call 253-1873.
