Clinton Gospel Fest went off last weekend, with a great turnout to hear the series of performers, as well as participate in the silent auction and raffle, all to raise funds for the Van Buren County Literacy Council. The event was held in the Clinton High School cafeteria.
Modern Woodmen of America chose this event for its matching funds program, so for every $1 raised, Modern Woodmen donated $1, doubling the fundraising effort. Other sponsors included Regions Bank, Walmart, Bank of the Ozarks, Hickory House Restaurant and Arkansas Telephone Company.
Brenda Wood, with the Literacy Council, was grateful for everyone who turned out, including volunteers and of course performers, whose contributions made “a huge difference” in a successful program.
The council’s office and classroom are in the county office complex off Shake Rag Road, in Clinton. Anyone who would like to volunteer as a tutor, or would benefit from the council’s services, call 501-253-1873.
