UACCM is offering a Microsoft Excel for Beginners class to be held 5 to 7 p.m. weekly on Monday and Wednesday, beginning Monday, Oct. 2. An Oktober-Fest, Story-Fest and Kids-Fest will be held from 7;30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 7. Free and open to the public it begins with a pancake breakfast at the Lions Club Den. Arts and crafts will be displayed for show and sale from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Kids-Fest will start at 9 a.m. with bounce houses, face-painting, princess carriage rides, pony rides, petting zoo, games, and prizes. Story-Fest will be held at 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. with live music throughout the day. Truffles and Tricky the Magician’s show starting at 4:30 p.m.. • • •


The 10th Annual Chili King Cook-Off will be 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 7, in historic downtown Clinton. There is a $5 charge at the gate that includes all-you-can- eat chili while supplies last. There will be music, arts and crafts vendors, activities for the kids, and more than 20 different kinds of chili.

The Van Buren County Special School Fall Festival will be held at the Clinton city park from 1 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 7. This is a child oriented fundraiser for classroom materials with lots of games, bounce houses, cotton candy, snow cones, and a silent auction for adults. The Clinton City Council meets 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12. Meetings of the Clinton City Council are held the second Thursday of every month at the Clinton Municipal Airport off Hwy. 16 East. The public and all press and media are invited to attend.

There will be Picking on the Square 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday Oct. 14. Join other local residents for an acoustic music jam in Clinton on the historical downtown square under the big tree on the west side of the court house. This is an acoustic gathering so no mics or amps. Bringing a chair is recommended, come join or musical circle or just stop by and listen.
