Oct. 7, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. 10th Annual Chili King Cookoff: The Chili King Cookoff is this Saturday on the Square in Clinton and will be a fun filled day for the whole family. Join us for this festival atmosphere complete with music, hot chili eating contest, arts and crafts vendors, activities for the kids, and 20 plus different kinds of chili and new this year the Van Buren County Special School will be joining us with their fall festival activities and over 80 silent auction items. October 7, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Van Buren County Special School Fall Festival: This year’s Fall Festival will be held on the downtown square in Clinton in conjunction with the Chili King Cookoff. This is a child oriented fundraiser for classroom materials with lots of games, bounce houses, cotton candy, snow cones and a silent auction for adults. Oct. 7, 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. Oktober-Fest, Story-Fest & Kids-Fest: Fairfield Bay Conference Center, free and open to the public, beginning at 7:30 a.m. with a Pancake Breakfast at the Lion’s Club Den, 9 a.m. local arts and crafts will be displayed for show and sale until 6 p.m. Kids-Fest will kick off at 9 a.m. with bounce houses, face painting, Princess carriage rides, pony rides, petting zoo, games and prizes, Truffles and Tricky the Magician’s show starting at 4:30 p.m. Story-Fest will be held at 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 pm. and live music throughout the day.

Oct. 14, 9 a.m. – Noon Picking on the Square: Join other local residents for an acoustic music jam in Clinton on the historical downtown square under the big tree on the west side of the court house. This is an acoustic gathering so no mics or amps. Bringing a chair is recommended, come join or musical circle or just stop by and listen.


Oct. 14, 9:30 a.m. 6th Annual Clinton Buddy Walk: This event will take place at the Archey Fork Park. This is a family fun event celebrating persons with Down syndrome and other disabilities. Oct. 27, 28 and 31, 6 - 9 p.m. The United Way Unhinged Haunted House: The haunted house will be held at the Van Buren County Fairgrounds on Highway 16 East. Admission will be $3 per person ages 5 and up, 4 and under admission is free. Co Sponsored by the Van Buren County Fairgrounds. For younger participants they will be hosting an Un-Haunted House for children available in the Quonset Hut for children to play games while adults and others go through the Haunted House.
