Enjoy UAFS Student Night in Van Buren

Main Street Van Buren will sponsor a University of Arkansas at Fort Smith Student Night from 5-8 p.m. today during its weekly Living Local event. The marketing research students of UAFS professor Dr. Elise Riker organized the night as a way for students to experience staging and promoting a special event.

Activities during the event include a scavenger hunt, karaoke and an ice cream social. A massage therapist will be on hand, as will food trucks.

Spend an evening on the river

The Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center will host a pair of casual barge tours on the Arkansas River at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Friday departing from the nature center, 8300 Wells Lake Road. Each tour lasts about an hour. All safety equipment will be provided.

Attend the Van Buren Fall Festival

Van Buren's historic Main Street will be the site of the Fall Festival 2017 to begin at 7 p.m. Friday with a concert and run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. More than 200 exhibitors will display artwork, handcrafted items, antiques and collectibles. There will also be live entertainment, and the festival will happen, rain or shine.

Rose show offers award winning roses

The Fort Smith Rose Society's Fall Rose Show will be held from 1-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Fort Smith Public Library, 3201 Rogers Ave. The show will feature 43 categories of roses plus a separate category for arrangements.

Admission is free, and all roses entered in the show will be sold at the conclusion. Proceeds will go to benefit the Rose Society.
