The Foothills Trail Alliance will be hosting their first trail building day from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 17, to install a trail that will attach to Archey Fork Park running north in the wooded area north of First Service Bank.


Volunteers will be asked to assist in trail building. No experience necessary on site supervision will be available to demonstrate the proper way to build trail and all the steps that in such process. Tools will be provided and with enough support this extension of trails in the community can be the first in a master plan to make Clinton a more walking and biking friendly community.

The Pig Eye Daze is hosting a Wild Game Expo and Dinner at the old Scotland school grounds Saturday, March 17. Events will include turkey calling competition, hoot owl competition, wild game dinner, and many hunting and call vendors. Stop in and see Jim Biggs and how to hunt with falcons, pro angler Joey Cifuentes, and Bob Karel with the National Wild Turkey Federation.

Bluffton Trail Building Day will be from 9 a.m. until noon at the Bluffton Preserve. Please bring work gloves. Tools will be provided, but bringing your own tools is encouraged. Please wear sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Camping is available for Friday evening. Directions: turn left onto Watergate Road off of Hwy. 65 just north of Clinton. Follow signs to the Bluffton Preserve.

The Sixth Annual Hunger Run will be Saturday, March 31, in historic downtown Clinton. This certified 5K Run/Walk is hosted by Van Buren County food banks. The Hunger Run is open to all ages and levels of experience as a fun family event with music, food and refreshments, prizes, and more. The race is chip timed with a mat start and arch finish, traffic control, pit stops, and medals for the top five finishers in every age group of runners and walkers, plus overall finishers. The second annual Easter at the Park will be 2-3 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at Archey Fork Park. Last year the event had 10,000 eggs for children of all ages to hunt. Everyone welcome.

Clinton’s 20th Annual Junk-B-Gone will be held April 2 through April 6. This event has been organized by the C.A.R.E. organization since 1998 in effort to clean up historic downtown Clinton. The first nine years was a one-day effort, but this year like the previous eleven years Junk–B-Gone will be held as a week-long cleanup. The expansion of this event is made possible by the City of Clinton and C.A.R.E. working together to take the steps necessary to make Clinton a better place to live.


Clinton city limits only, no household garbage, trash must be on the side of the road, trash must be out the day before scheduled pick-up so it is available when workers are in that area. No shingles, paint cans, tar cans, or tires that are still mounted on the rim. Pick up dates and locations: April 2, Hwy. 16 East And West; April 3 School Hill and downtown; April 4, south of the Hwy. 65 Bridge at the south fork of the Little Red River; April 5 and 6 will be used by the city crews to concentrate on any areas that need extensive attention.

Picking on the Square will be 9 a.m. until noon, Saturday, April 14. Join other local residents for an acoustic music jam in Clinton on the historical downtown square under the big tree on the west side of the court house (during inclement weather session will be held in the Van Buren County Democrat newspaper office). This is an acoustic gathering so no mics or amps. Bringing a chair is recommended, come join our musical circle or just stop by and listen.
