Through Friday, Aug. 3, Blagg Law Firm, First Security Bank, First Service Bank, and First Arkansas Bank & Trust will have boxes and to collect school supplies for United Way.
All school supplies will be distributed to the upper grades at Clinton and to Shirley schools. On Saturday, Aug. 4, the first day of the tax free weekend, United Way will be at Walmart collecting supplies. The United Way in Van Buren County is now part of United Way of Central Arkansas.

Movies begin at dark. This is a free event. The department recently announced it will have a water slide in place, open prior to the movie showing.
Rockin’ on the River is an open mic event, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Archey Fork Park Amphitheater in Clinton. Rockin’ on the River is a Clinton Advertising and Promotion Commission event taking place the first Saturday of each month. For more information email email@example.com.
Clinton City Council meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at the Clinton Municipal Airport off Hwy. 16 E.
Meetings are the second Thursday of each month and the public is welcome to attend.
The Van Buren County Quorum Court meets 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at the County Annex on Hwy. 65 in Clinton.
Pickin’ on the Square is 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 11, on the courthouse square in historic downtown Clinton C’mon by to listen or play, no mics, no amps, it is a jam format: just sit in a circle and take turns. The fun-loving play “Greater Tuna” will be performed at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, in the Clinton High School auditorium. Tickets are $12 each and are on sale now at First Security Bank in Clinton or the Blagg Law Firm. Reserve tickets by calling 501-745-2600.
The Clinton Down Syndrome Walk is 8-9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 at Archey Fork Park.
Previously known as the Clinton Buddy Walk, the Clinton Down Syndrome Walk will be a fun day celebrating all individuals with Down Syndrome.
The 49th Annual Greers Ferry Lake and Little Red River Cleanup will take place Saturday, Sept. 8. The third annual Love the Lake and River cleanup is expected to take place in conjunction with this event. For more information or to volunteer go to visitgreersferrylake.org/cleanup.

The Van Buren County Fair pageants are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 14 and Saturday, Sept. 15.
Pageant forms available at Sew What Sewing. The fair begins Wednesday, Sept. 19 through Saturday, Sept. 22. Carnival opens on Wednesday, Sept. 19.
There will be a $100 drawing to be given away each night throughout the fair.
There will be a couple of bands performing during the week, along with Rapid Fire Ministries.
The Youth Talent Show will be Saturday, Sept. 22. There will also be a dog show and livestock judging.
The second annual Road Kill Cook-off is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Archey Fork Park, in Clinton.
Cooking begins at 8 a.m. Contestants must use any meat that can be found on the highway as their primary ingredient. This event is open to the public, with samples of the contestant’s entries available for tasting.

There will be gospel music beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, directly after the Road Kill Cook-off featuring King’s Highway, Sulfur Road Pickers, Spirit Breeze, John Wickman, Human People, Rapid Fire, Silver Ridge, and Sing-along Hymns with Christa Cossey.
The Stand with a Cop silent/live auction will be 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, in the Clinton High School cafeteria.
Funds raised from this event will be designated for the Van Buren County Sheriff’s office to purchase the necessary equipment needed for a Special Response Team (SRT) for the county. No donation is too small or too large. All donations must be new or handmade. Donations will be accepted at any time by calling 501-253-4716 or drop off donations at Sisters Emporium in Clinton every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the day of the event.
