Click It or Ticket! Not only is it a law to buckle up, it is just ignorant not to. Research shows six of 10 children killed in traffic accidents are not buckled. Of those killed, experts estimate that half would survive by using seat belts. More students need to know that buckling up really is important.

The South Side High School Safe School initiative has been checking to see who is wearing their seatbelts every morning as they pull into the school. They recorded the results. The following week, the committee showed a video to the student body, The video shared how there is room to live inside your car, even in the case of a crash, if drivers just buckle up. The Safe School group hopes to improve student and faculty seatbelt compliance. On April 7, the group painted a stencil that reads “Buckle Up” on the entrance to the school.
