They are celebrating Earth Day, Saturday in Alread. Cleanup begins at 9am, potluck at noon and horseshoe tourney follows.
The hummingbirds are back, according to a neighbor who has her feeders out. The long view through the forest disappeared this past week as leaf-out accelerated. I ate the first radish from my garden. Simply delicious. And I had another snake encounter, a 3-4 foot black snake. It has warmed enough recently that the pit vipers could be out and about. Caution is in order.
“Blooms of Note” going on now: wild iris, grancy graybeard, wild larkspur, early spiderwort, wild geranium, snowball bush and red honeysuckle. If I miss something let me know.
