The Arkansas Supreme Court held a session at Clinton School auditorium this past Thursday, April 13, to permit all interested, including students and members of the community, a chance to see the workings of the highest court in the state in real-time.

Students attended from Clinton and surrounding districts, as attorneys presented to the court their arguments in the matter of Arkansas State Police vs. Keet Law Firm, a matter of Freedom of Information Act limits in accessing police records.

After the hearing, justices joined the students - broken off into small groups - to discuss the court’s and justice’s role in the legal process. Several students expressed surprise that the hearing did not included the bombast so often seen in television court dramas, but all students and other observers were interested in being able to observe the reality of high court debate.

Additional pictures of the event will be online at later this week.
