There will be another breakfast fundraiser for Alread Community’s Annual Fireworks Show. Come to the Alread Cafeteria from 8 to 10 a.m. on June 17 for a great meal! Each plate is $10. T-shirts designed for the fireworks show this year will be available for purchase at the breakfast and at the fireworks celebration. They are $15 each. You can also make contributions online, on Facebook, or send donations to Waymon Bruce.

Just a few hours after that (on the 17th), registration for Alread ACRDC’s first annual ATV Poker Run will begin. Registration will be from noon to 1 p.m. at the Alread Fun Park. The length of the trail is about 40 miles, going through Slick Rock and Lost Corner, and will make for about a three-hour ride. The first rider will set out at 1 p.m. Please keep in mind this is not a race, and that all riders must be 18 or older, with ID. The cost to enter is $25 per vehicle and there will be a meal afterwards at the park. Prizes for best hand, 2nd best hand, and worst hand will be awarded, as well as several door prizes.

The Pope County Bookmobile will be at Tilly (10:30 a.m.) and at the Zion Hill Cemetery (11:30 a.m.) on June 21.

Alread’s Annual Fireworks Celebration will be on July 1 this year, the Saturday before Independence Day, instead of the Saturday after. The show will be held at the Alread Fun Park, and there will be a potluck beforehand, starting at 6 p.m., so please bring a dish or two, some chairs or a blanket, and have a great time! There will be live music this year, and don’t forget that there are t-shirts available for purchase to help support this annual event.

The Alread EH Club’s exercise program, Get Fit, meets in the EH Club building every MWF from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Admission is free. A weekly quilting class meets every Thursday from 9 to about 1. The Alread Fire Department has been getting new volunteers and I salute you all! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the chief, Elias Watson: 501-253-1869.

Happy Father’s Day to all dads and granddads! I hope this weekend is a special one for you and your family. If you have any community news that you would like featured here, please contact Lindsay McDonald, 501-289-8085.
