A fatal Interstate accident on I-40 outside Mayflower claimed the life of two Shirley residents and left two Shirley residents with injuries according to an Arkansas State Police report.
The accident, Wednesday, June 14, occurred when a 2004 Ford Taurus the Shirley residents were in slowed suddenly while eastbound on Interstate 40 “due to mechanical problems” and was then struck by a 2016 Toyota 4Runner, per the report.
Killed in the accident were Jessica Marie Johnson, 26 and Victoria Jeanette Lindsey, 65, both of Shirley, along with a minor, name and address not given in the State Police Report.
Listed as injured were Matthew Collins, 23, and Harry Lee Johnson, 67, of Shirley, both in the same car as Johnson and Lindsey, as well as the driver of the 4Runner, Hayden Knox, 24, of Bryant. The injured were taken to area hospitals.
The accident took place at 3:30 p.m., per the report.
