The first time I saw a Mimosa tree is full bloom was on a road trip to Louisiana. I fell in love with it’s deep green featherly leaves and pretty pink blossoms. My two favorite colors and on a tree! Huge magnolia trees amaze me as well. Those large fragrant blooms are just so impressive! There is just so much beauty all around us, I feel truly blessed to live in the beautiful Ozark mountains.
Our neighbors were cutting hay the other day and I felt almost guilty because I enjoyed watching them work and inhaling the clean smell of the freshly cut hay. I like watching man and machine work together in the fields knowing that they will be providing feed for the farm animals during the winter months when fresh grass is scarce.
If you missed the car show, soapbox derby race or any of the other events at Archy Fest this last weekend then I would recommend trying to attend next year. Walking around the square looking at all the vintage vehicles is like taking a walk down memory lane. Watching the crowd and friends at the soapbox derby race was entertaining and a lot of fun. I’ve never ridden in a soapbox, nor do I have the desire to do so, but it sure was great fun watching someone else ride them down Factory Hill. I missed the fireworks this year but heard they were amazing as usual. The Fourth of July is just around the corner. Sean and I plan on going to the Bay for Fireworks and spending time with friends and family. I hope you have a fun and safe Independence day. “I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives. I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him,” Abraham Lincoln.
