Twenty two students participated Thursday night, June 22, at a ceremony for the North Central Adult Education program, as each student received their GED diploma.

It was marked by, as would be expected, all the pomp and circumstance a graduation deserves, including invocation, and later benediction, by Pastor Rocky Thomas of Botkinburg Foursquare Church. The speaker, Ozark Health Medical Medical Center CEO David Deaton, made a presentation both enlightening and important as he shared with the graduates his own climb up educations ladder, in turn leading to his position as a healthcare CEO, beginning with his own GED certificate, earned after dropping out of school in 1982, and it being the springboard toward his college education.

A GED “Shows you have the commitment to complete a program,” Deaton said, adding that “some of our best employees [at the hospital] have GEDs.”

The ceremony ended with students tossing their caps then going into the audience to share their success, and receive congratulations, with the friends and family attending.
