Van Buren County has a new Animal Control officer.

Tim Pike, a deputy with the sheriff’s office since 2013, has accepted the job. His first day was Monday, July 31.

“I’m excited to be serving the people of Van Buren County,” Pike said.

Pike had been a part-time animal control officer for the City of Quitman for the past 10 years, along with serving as a part-time deputy for the Van Buren County Sheriff’s department. Along with his four years serving as a deputy, he had 8 years experience as a constable.

His comfort in working around animals is from his being raised on a farm, Pike said.
