Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the Alread community and the ACRDC organization this past Saturday. The benefit concert was a lot of fun and always a great day for our community. October is going to be a busy month! I hope you guys are ready for it!
The HWY 254 & HWY 16 Yard Sale is coming up on Oct. 6 and 7, a Friday and a Saturday. Anyone who would like to sell items are welcome to do so at the Alread School parking lot.
The 4th Annual Alread Community Red Cross Blood Drive is the second Tuesday in October, on the 10th. To prepare for this, the last day that you could have given blood to qualify was Aug. 10. You can come to the Alread EH Clubhouse anytime between 3 and 7 p.m. that afternoon to donate blood or food, and thank you for supporting your community. This year’s blood drive is in honor of Sandy Watson, a staple of the Alread Community and a wonderfully nice man.
The Alread Fall Festival will be on Oct. 14, a Saturday, from 2 to 7 in the evening at the Alread F.U.N. Park. There will be food for everyone, several games and activities, including a spook house, a cake walk, bean bag toss, sack races, and much more. There is no admission fee, though a few things, mainly the cake walk and the spook house, will cost a little bit of money to help the organizations that are sponsoring the event.
Alread is having a trunk or treat at the Alread F.U.N. Park and parking lot on Halloween this year. Come park, bring your candy, and kids from the community can come and trick or treat all in one place in a safe and family-friendly environment. We are really looking forward to starting this tradition this year!
Remember that many of these events (excluding the yard sale) are organized and sponsored by five Alread organizations, the Alread Fire Department, the Alread EH Club, ACRDC, ACCDA, and the cemetery committee. We all work together to make our community an even better place to live.
The Alread EH Club’s exercise program, Get Fit, meets in the EH Club building every MWF from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Admission is free. A weekly quilting class meets every Thursday from 9 a.m. to about 1 p.m. You may come to the quilting class at any time during those four hours, you don’t have to be there the entire time.
