Van Buren and several other counties in the state are still under a burn ban. If our weather predictions are correct, then we could be under a burn ban for sometime. Please no open burning.

After enjoying time spent decorating for fall I made a trip to Benton to switch places with my daughter for a few days. We had a “Freaky Friday” moment as she came here to do a photo shoot and take care of things for me, I got to take care of things for her there. It’s s always a good time when I get to spend time with the grandchildren. A funny thing happened when I picked Hayley up from school. When I bent down to give her a hug a random little boy took that as an invitation to come and hug me. His mother quickly ran up and apologized and asked if I knew her son, to which I replied no, but I do now. Her daughter then asked for a hug, we exchanged names and hugged again before we left. While all this was happening Hayley was watching and patiently waiting for her hugs. After giving her plenty of hugs she looked up at me and said, “GaGa, I guess you are right, everyone needs a hug.” “Hugging is a silent way of saying you matter to me,” Unknown. Certainly a great moment for us all.

The annual highway 254 yard sale was this last weekend and what treasures there were! Ending a morning of shopping in Chimes for a great meal is a very good way to spend a day. Be sure to mark you calendars for next years event, it’s held the same time every year.

“Listen! The wind is rising, and the air is wild with leaves, we have had our summer evenings, now for October eves!” Humbert Wolfe.
