In a special session called last Thursday night, Oct. 5, the Clinton City Council agreed to move forward on negotiations with the Dennard Water System to take over its operations.
The vote was not an ordinance or resolution, only an agreement indicating a willingness to move forward in “final negotiations with Dennard Water to purchase and incorporate that system,” City of Clinton Mayor Richard McCormac, who called the special session, said.
The session requirement was at the request of the Highway Department, McCormac said. The department is currently engaged in the expansion of Highway 65 north of town which would include moving water lines running between Clinton and Dennard. The vote allowed, in turn, the department to plan.
Also in attendance for members of the still-forming Clinton Water Board, Mickey Parrish and Matt Stewart, as well as Clinton Water and Sewer Department head Dickie Hink.
