After a recent confession to theft, Clinton Police anticipate arrests soon in a series of storage-rental break-ins, Chief John Willoughby said.
Willoughby said the process began when his department received a phone call from a woman who asked police to come and take back some items she had recently stolen from a storage rental. Willoughby said he arrived and spoke with the woman, who pointed him to a nearby shed where the items were stolen. The woman was distraught and teary-eyed over having stolen, he said.
The items were recovered, then taken back to the department and cataloged. The owner has identified the items as being his, Willoughby said.
Further investigation revealed the theft was one of “six or seven” thefts of storage units in the area. Willoughby said. He expected arrest warrants for the group to be made “soon.”
