Petit Jean Electric Cooperative has recently completed a project adding capability to Damascus.

The project, the addition of seven miles of electrical line from a Bee Branch substation into Damascus, is obviously visible on Highway 65 into Damascus, a series of high-tension wire poles running along the highway. It was undertaken in order to add service and reliability to Damascus, Petit Jean Electric Cooperative CEO Bill Conine said in a statement.

City of Damascus Mayor L.B. Pavatt said he understood the addition was to meet the projected needs for energy exploration in the Damascus area.

“An important part of improving the lives of our members is fostering economic growth. This transmission line meets the need of a commercial member that is growing its business,” Conine said.

The project was completed in late March.
