Picking on the Square will be 9 a.m. until noon, Saturday, April 14. Join other local residents for an acoustic music jam in Clinton on the historical downtown square under the big tree on the west side of the court house (during inclement weather session will be held in the Van Buren County Democrat newspaper office). This is an acoustic gathering so no mics or amps. Bringing a chair is recommended, come join our musical circle or just stop by and listen.

The Cobblestone Hotel & Suites groundbreaking will be held 2:30-5:30 p.m., Thursday, April 26, at the Fairfield Bay Conference Center. The ceremony for the 63-room, four-story hotel will be attended by Gov. Asa Hutchinson and other dignitaries, along with the Clinton Community Band providing the music. The hotel is expected to open in the fall.

The “Hooked on Heroes,” Veterans Bass Tournament and Outdoor Expo will be Saturday, May 12. The tournament and expo is teaming with Patriot Riders, the Clinton Advertising and Promotions Commission and others, for this first of what will be an annual event. Registered boats will take veterans out on Greers Ferry Lake, followed by a motorcade escort from Choctaw Park to Archey Fork Park. Trophy presentation, booths, arts, crafts, music, and games will all be part of the festivities. Proceeds benefit the VA Home Expansion Project in North Little Rock.
