Clinton Police held training at the gun range Saturday for officers, part of its current training class instruction. Here Haley Pipkin squeezes off a round.
Pipkin receives instruction from Clinton training officer Derek Sanford. The range qualifications for pistol have very exacting steps and the trainee must demonstrate competence at each of these steps.
As part of the qualifications, the officer has to demonstration firing single-handed with the “off,” or non-favored, hand.
Having completed a round, the target is scored. Here Sanford is joined by training officer Jay Murdock (right, back to camera). She passed. Note the holstered gun. Drawing from a holster, then firing, is part of the qualification requirements.
