A low-impact strengthening exercise class meets at the Alread EH Club building weekly from 9 a.m. until about 10:30 a.m. each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This program is completely free to the public and a lot of fun.

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to the Candidates Forum and Pie Auction in Alread this past Saturday evening. Members of the community and the candidates who came to speak and help raise money

were all wonderful. The generosity was amazing, too, and the Alread EH Club is very grateful.

I am really looking forward to this: from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, there will be a fish fry (from fresh-caught fish!) courtesy of the Sandy Watson family and ACCDA at the Alread F.U.N. Park and everyone is welcome to come and eat and enjoy.

Starting at 5:30 on Saturday, May 19, there will be an Italian dinner with salad followed by bingo at the Alread EH Club building. There is no charge for the meal, though donations are accepted, and the cost to play bingo is as follows: $7 per 10 cards and then for the special bingo, it’s $2 per card. This is always a good time and who doesn’t love Italian food?

The next Saturday after that, on May 25, there will be a poker run and concert sponsored by the Bruce family, to raise money for Alread’s annual fireworks show, which has become a remarkable staple for the Alread community. We all brag about it every year; it’s just that amazing. If you’ve never taken part in a poker run before, they’re a lot of fun. You ride a trail on either a four wheeler or a side-by-side and there are stops for you to draw a card and then at the end, whoever has the best “hands” will win really nice prizes.

Generally poker runs are relaxed and you can stop and enjoy the creek and visit with everyone along the way. Registration for the poker run will start at 8 a.m. and Heath Sanders and Lucky Rooster will be playing at a concert later that evening back at the park. Please search for Alread Fireworks Benefit ATV Poker Run on Facebook for pricing information. It varies depending upon whether you’re playing, riding, eating, and going to the concert or not.
