Thursday EHC’s monthly meeting is 1:30-2:30 p.m. in their building on 16 West.

Recycling Day is Saturday, 8-10 a.m. at the Alread cafeteria.

Crabtree’s Senior Night Potluck at the Foursquare Church returns Friday, July 27, 5:30 p.m. The Potluck theme is “hot summer favorites.”

The New Moon is Friday and a good time to look for faint galaxies and star clusters if you have a telescope. Then on Sunday after sunset look west for the three day old crescent moon. The “star” just below it is the planet Venus.

Its “Pick Blueberries Day” Saturday. Native Americans called them “star berries” and believed they helped with persistent coughs and eyesight. Today we know they have very high levels of antioxidants and are high in fiber. My two bushes need a bit more ripening but soon, very soon, yummy. That is if my bird netting stays well wrapped.

Neighbor Brad Attitudes has been bragging on his garden beans productivity. Since I planted late it’ll be a couple more weeks before I have any to harvest but tomatoes, cucumbers and summer squash have been in abundance.

Lewis Jackson’s sugar cane field is looking healthy. I spotted him plowing last week, and he has a new watering contraption that I hope to have more details about next week.
