Themed as “Wild in the Barn” this year, the 2018 Nevada County Fair is ready for its two-week run, starting Thursday, Sept. 6 with the entry of select items and ending Sunday, Sept. 16 with final pickup and cleanup.

Themed as “Wild in the Barn” this year, the 2018 Nevada County Fair is ready for its two-week run, starting Thursday, Sept. 6 with the entry of select items and ending Sunday, Sept. 16 with final pickup and cleanup.
Saturday, Sept. 15, features one of the annual highlights of the Nevada County Fair, the Miss Nevada County pageant when 2017 Miss Nevada County Rayleigh Hart crowns her successor. The deadline for pageant entry this year is Friday, Sept. 7, and for more information, contact Pageant Director Stacy Jester.
The same night, Saturday, Sept. 15, the Nevada County Fair Rodeo also happens, starting at 7 p.m.
Another big event, the Nevada County Premium Sale dinner and sale is an after hours affair on Thursday, Sept. 13.
The annual Talent Show, which in the past has featured such young talents as Brady Rhodes, Cassidy Archer, Kendall Laughard, Zoe Fincher and Essence Thomas, happens this year on Saturday, Sept. 8.

• Thursday, Sept. 6
8 AM - 10 AM: Items entered in School Art, Crafts and Photography (with no School Art accepted at any other day or time).
• Saturday, Sept. 8
10 AM: Items for Taste of Nevada County entered and setup. Items that will be judged include BBQ, coleslaw, baked beans, potato salad, bread and desserts.
12 NOON: Taste of Nevada County Judging
1 PM: Doors open for general public for Taste of Nevada County (with $7.00 for Adults; $5.00 for Kids 10 and Under)
2 PM: Fair Festival starts.
3 PM: Power Wheels Derby and Bicycle Races
5 PM: Pet Costume Contest
5 PM: Talent Show

3 PM: Items entered in Arts, Crafts, Photography. Educational and Commercial Booths Set—up.
• Monday, Sept. 10
3 PM: Items entered in Arts, Crafts, Photography, Quilts, Household Articles, Food Preservation, Fall Gardens, Field Crops and Furniture Educational & Commercial Booths Set—up.
3 PM: Blood test for Chickens at County Extension Office
