Unconditional Giving

I'm writing this on the eve of Grandparents day and Dirty Bowl 2018. The two don't necessarily go together but I do know that there were plenty of Grandparents who were at the game today. The final amount raised has yet to be determined because this Grandma is just too tired tonight, but it's not really about the final monetary number it's about giving of our abundance and whatever it is, is what we give.

We are so blessed to be able to turn around and put this right back into what we do for seniors in Van Buren county. We couldn't do this without the support of so many of you. Thank you for another memorable year, for your time, your support, your donations. I've always had a soft spot for the elderly and as I “mature” and move closer to those golden years I value more what being a grandparent is really all about.

“What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life. And, most importantly, cookies,” Rudy Guiliani. Happy belated Grandparents day!

You never know where you will meet your next friend. They might be the couple that comes to stay from France, the brother of a friend you meet one night over a meal, someone who shows up to support a cause you're passionate about and gives it their all. Our language differences with our guests from France was never a barrier because our hearts were so much alike. Our retreat seems to draw some really kind and giving individuals who are looking for some time to relax, regroup and regenerate their souls. We wish our new French friends the very best in the new journey they have chosen. We welcome all of our new friends to the family.

“There are friends, there is family, and then there are friends that become family,” Unknown.

“Friendship isn't about who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said 'I'm here for you.' and proved it,” Unknown.

To all of our players, fans, sponsors and volunteers welcome to the family. I'd also like to qualify that as our “market family” continues to grow each year I am not having Thanksgiving dinner at my house but I'll offer to bring the pumpkin cheesecake, just saying.....

Your kindness challenge for the week: Entertain someone with a happy dance. I danced today, did you?
