The National Weather Service, Little Rock, has placed Van Buren County under a Winter Storm Watch with "several inches of snow and sleet" predicted beginning Friday evening through Saturday evening.

Up to a quarter inch of ice, generally in the northern half of the county, is part of this forecast.

Hazardous travel is expected, and power outages are possible.

While Van Buren County is shown to expect 4 to 7 inches of snow. Lower amounts, less than 1 inch, are expected south into Faulkner County in the current forecast.

Rain will begin Thursday evening. The amount of snow is dependent upon how fast the expected cold front moves into the state. Fast moving will be more snow, while a slow moving front will be less snow.
