Two Van Buren County men died over the weekend in separate automobile accidents.

On Aug. 16, Zachery Walters, 19, of Bee Branch was killed in a one-car accident. According to an Arkansas State Police report, Walters was traveling north on Highway 65 when his 2000 Chevy left the roadway and struck a culvert and tree.

The report said weather conditions were clear and the roads dry when the accident occurred.

On Saturday, Aug. 17, Van Buren County Deputy David Hess responded to a vehicle accident on the New Road, which apparently happened Aug. 15, according to a report from the sheriff’s office. Hess found a vehicle off the road upside down in a deep ravine with a male victim partially under the 2000 Toyota Corolla.

Chester Knoble, 59, of Shirley told Hess he and his brother, Douglas Kent Knoble, had gone to Reaves Grocery Store in Shirley and were on their way home at approximately 4:30 a.m. when the accident happened.

Chester Knoble reported that he was knocked out and when he woke up, he realized the vehicle was upside down and his brother was deceased. Chester Knoble reported it took him a while to get out of the vehicle and walk to the first residence he came to for help. The Van Buren County coroner pronounced Douglas Knoble, 58, dead at the scene.
