The 2014 Shirley Homecoming kicks off with goat roping Friday, June 6.

The 47th annual event held in historic downtown Shirley offers food, fun, games and a chance to visit with folks from near and far.

"We have something for everyone this year," said Shirley Mayor Johnny Sowell.

The schedule for Friday includes Shy Town Goat Roping at 5 p.m., the AJRA Junior Rodeo at 8 p.m., and a Dance at the Depot, featuring the band Double Shot, also at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, June 7, kids games, including turtle races, sack races and a water balloon toss, begin at 10 a.m.

The parade leaves from the Shirley schools at 1 p.m. and a $200 prize is in store for the best float.

The Luckey Duckey Regatta and gospel music from Bev and Kim begin at 2 p.m.

At 5 p.m. goat roping makes its return and the rodeo begins at 8 p.m. There will be music by Kasey Kimmons Nelson and Rendezvous will play at the Dance at the Depot at 8 p.m.
