Van Buren County sheriff’s investigators made an arrest last week after a burglary at a Shirley business.

On May 28, Mike Pruitt reported to the sheriff’s office that his business had been broken in to and two chainsaws were missing.

Investigators learned of an attempt by a different person who had tried to return some of the property.

The investigation then focused on two suspects, one of whom ended up not being involved in the break-in, though she eventually was charged with another misdemeanor theft.

Clara May Franks, 22, of McRory, was developed as a suspect during the course of the investigation, according to a reort from the sheriff’s office.

Franks was also an absconder from Adult Probation and Parole, according to the sheriff’s office.

Franks was arrested and faces charges of commercial burglary and theft of property.

She currently is being held at the Van Buren County Detention with a parole hold and no bond.
