A Clinton man is in critical condition after he was shot Saturday, March 9.

Michael Allen, 54, sustained a single gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to the Van Buren County sheriff’s office. Deputies found Allen in the driveway of the Sills Peninsula home of Patricia Lynn Knollenberg, 50. Allen was taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock where he was reported in critical but stable condition.

According to court documents in the case, Knollenberg told a sheriff’s investigator that she shot Allen because he had been stalking her and had broken into her home. She stated that Allen came to her residence and was outside banging on the walls on March 9, the documents said. She yelled at him to leave her property several times, the papers state.

Knollenberg said she fired a shot "to scare Michael Allen off," and that he took off running, the documents show. She stated that she fired another shot and then heard Allen yell that she had shot him, the documents state. Knollenberg said that she went down the road and saw Allen lying there, then went home and called the police, the documents show.

Knollenberg has been charged with aggravated assault, a Class D felony, and battery in the first degree, a Class B felony. The sheriff’s office said the investigation is still under way and additional charges against Knollenberg are likely.
