Arkansas Tech University in Russellville is taking steps to make higher education more attainable for incoming freshmen in fall 2014.
Tech has announced a plan to provide scholarship supplements worth as much as $1,000 per eligible first-time freshman during the 2014-15 academic year.
"Arkansas Tech is home to the most affordable tuition and fees structure among the five largest universities in our state," said Arkansas Tech President Dr. Robert C. Brown. "This marks the second consecutive year that we will offer scholarship supplements to eligible incoming freshmen. It is part of our institutional culture to provide students with every opportunity to persist to graduation and earn a college degree. Removing as many financial barriers as possible between deserving students and higher education is the right thing to do."
First-time freshmen enrolled at Arkansas Tech for the fall 2014 semester that are receiving the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship will be awarded a $500 scholarship supplement for the fall semester. Those same Arkansas Tech freshmen will be awarded an additional $500 scholarship supplement at Tech for the spring 2015 semester if they remain eligible for the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship.
No application process is necessary to receive the scholarship supplement. The supplements will be credited to the accounts of qualifying Arkansas Tech freshmen on the main campus in Russellville.
