Sherry Lynn Watts of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2018 at her home. Sherry lived a life of love and devotion for her family and friends. She was married to her lifelong love, Robbie Watts, for over 50 years. Later in life she enjoyed spending time with friends, all her grandkids, and travelling.


Sherry taught first grade at Annie Sims Elementary in Mt. Pleasant for many years before retiring from a career in education.


She was born Feb. 4, 1949 in Conway to Norman and Paula (Rasor) Smith and moved to Texas for good in 1974. She was a graduate of Texas A & M Commerce.


Sherry is survived by her husband, Robbie; daughter, Angie Conway and husband Brandon of McKinney; son Bryan Watts and wife Krista of Littleton, Colo.; mother, Paula Smith of Clinton; brother Dave Smith and wife Kathleen of Bee Branch.; sister-in-law Claudette Pennington of Clinton; and Shirley Carlisle and husband Roger of Ratcliff, Ark.; five grandchildren who called her “Mimi,” Caroline Gustafson, Ethna Gustafson, Colton Watts, Kendall Watts, and Colby Watts, and numerous nieces and nephews.


The family would like to extend their gratitude to Texas Oncology Cancer Center for the care of Sherry in the last 12 months.


Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at the St Andrew United Methodist Church.


Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Sherry’s memory to: Cypress Basin Hospice, Mt. Pleasant, Texas, or the Research Department at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
