Gary Lee Underwood, 65, of Midway, Ark., died Thursday Aug. 23, in his home.
He was born on July 13, 1953 in Warrensburg, Mo. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Shoemaker and Wayne Underwood.
Gary is survived by his sister, Joni Teague, Higden, Ark., his nieces, who were more like his children, Rachel Redmon, Little Rock, Ark., Crystal Teague, Scotland, Ark, Brandi Grillot, Shirley, Ark. and Andrea Bradley, Roland, Ark. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Pugsley, and nine great nieces and nephews.
Gary served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army where he specialized in parachute assault operations. His badges include: Expert Marksman M-16 Rifle and Parachute Qualified. After leaving the Army he later graduated from Foothills Vocational Technical School where he studied diesel mechanics. In 1999 he graduated from the Texas State Technical College and became an HVAC Service Technician at the Trane Company where he worked until he became disabled.
Throughout his life he enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, playing the guitar and collecting guns. However, he also enjoyed spending time with his many friends and his family. He will be missed.
Then family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
