Charles Lohnes Priest Jr., 75, of Bee Branch, Ark., passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at McClellan Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. He was born Oct. 16, 1937, in Little Rock, Ark., the oldest of six children born to the late Charles Lohnes Priest Sr. and Mildred Quincy (Cody) Priest.
After proudly serving in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1959, he followed in his fatherís footsteps, working as a bread delivery salesman for Ideal and Colonial bread companies. Jan. 28, 1962, he married Linda Holley of Morganton, Ark., and spent the next 51 years as a devoted husband and father. In 2000 Charles gave his life to Christ and became a devoted and active member of Kaley Hill Missionary Church. He will be remembered fondly and greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Linda; children Karen (Phillip) Ellis and Lisa Bonds Nixon, both of Clinton, and Steve Priest of Morrilton; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Beverly (Earl) Clayton, and John Priest, both of California.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles III; parents; three siblings, James, Larry and Garry of California.
Pallbearers: John Priest, Jesse Alvarado, Mason Nixon, Bobby Nixon, Tyler Priest and Derek Bonds.
Honorary pallbearers: James Holley and Gary Holley.
Visitation was Monday, March 4, 2013, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel, Clinton. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Kaley Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Fairbanks Community, with Pastor Bobby Bowman officiating.
