Dr. Benny Gooden, a 1961 graduate of Clinton High School and the superintendent of Fort Smith Public Schools since 1986, will be the guest speaker at the Memorial Day program at Huie/Hunter Hill Cemetery on Monday, May 26. Gooden has won many awards including Arkansas Superintendent of the Year in 1992 from the American Association of School Administrators and was the 1999 recipient of the Phoebe Apperson Hearst Outstanding Educator award from the National PTA. Services at Huie/Hunter-Hill will begin at 10 a.m. There will be singing led by Steve Smith, a flag ceremony by the Boy Scouts and a potluck dinner will be served. Everyone is welcome.

Salem Cemetery Decoration services begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 25, with singing, a business meeting and preaching. Lunch will follow at noon with a special meeting in the afternoon.

The Decoration at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Alread will be June 8, 2014. There will be food, music and visiting with family and friends.
