Hundreds of young people were in Perry, Georgia the week of July 23 for barrel racing competion. The National Barrel Association World Youth Championship took place at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter and was a week long event. Approximately 2,040 horses and 1,500 riders were entered.
Riders have to qualify to make it to Perry. They are all champions when they get there. Entered in the Teen division, with over 1,000 entries, were Randi Bowlin and her horse, Gilly. Their first run was 16.3 and the second run was 16.4 seconds.
Randi is the daughter of Nancy and Dennis Bowlin of Marshall and Damascus. She is the granddaughter of Joyce and Ed Tudor of Marshall.
