The Clinton Junior High football team won its second conference game of the season when the team defeated Batesville Southside on their home field Thursday, Sept. 20.

The Jackets scored late in the first quarter when Travis Whitson ran for a 4-yard touchdown. Clinton 6-0.

The second quarter was a good one. Batesville Southwide scored on a long touchdown run, but they then attempted an onside kick that was recovered by Cager Bandy of Clinton.

After a pass interfence call on an attempted pass from Kannon Bradley to MJ Griffin, the Jackets scored on a 7-yard touchdown run by Whitson. The score at half, Clinton 12-6.

The third quarter was a defensive battle with no scoring, but the fourth quarter was dominated by Clinton.

Jake Ferrell ran for a 4-yard touchdown and caught a pass from Bradley to complete the two-point play.

Dalton Hoyle had a nice 29-yard touchdown run to finish off the scoring. Clinton, 26-6.

Offensive leaders included Ferrell, 104 yards rushing on eight carries; Whitson, 59 yards on 12 carries; Travis Farmer, 48 yards on eight carries; Hoyle, 31 yards with two carries; and Aaron Bigelow, 25 yards on seven carries.

Defensive leaders included Bigelow, nine tackles, one sack and one caused fumble; Wyatt McCoy, five tackles and an interception; Chase Cook, five tackles and a sack; Bandy, five tackles; Tristan Robertson, four tackles; Hoyle, a fumble recovery; and Alexander Coley had an interception to end the game.

These Clinton Junior Jackets are now 2-0 in conference play. Pine Bluff Dollarway will visit Clinton this week. Hope to see you there!
