Hooten’s Football magazine picks the Clinton Yellow Jackets to beat Arkansas Baptist this Thursday, Sept. 5, at UCA.

After a scrimmage game against Dover Aug. 27, Clinton is chomping to get on the field and erase last year’s 2-8 campaign, when seven starters endured season-ending injuries.

The Yellow Jackets plan to run junior quarterback Fielder Dufrene (650 yards passing and 135 yards rushing in 2012) more this fall behind junior fullback Harrison Lester, the magazine says.

In other games in Clinton’s 2-4A division, Hooten’s predicts:

(Dollarway over West Helena (at Dollarway) The Jackets play Dollarway at home on Oct. 11.

Pottsville over Heber Springs (at Pottsville) Clinton takes on Pottsville on Sept. 20, the Jackets’ first home game of the season. The Jackets will travel to Heber Springs on Oct. 24.

Lonoke is picked to beat Star City (at Lonoke). The Jackets will face Lonoke the last regular game of the season, Nov. 8, which is Seniors Night.

Newport is favored over at Nettleton (at Nettleton). Oct. 25 is the date the Jackets will face Newport in Clinton.

Southside Batesville over Cave City (at Batesville). Batesville travels to Clinton on Oct. 4.

Defending state champsp Stuttgart is picked over CAC. The Jackets play in Stuttgart on Oct. 18.
