You are cordially invited to a Garden Party. The Van Buren County Master Gardeners would like you to get to know us and learn about the Master Gardener (MG) program. You will have the opportunity to tour a local MG home garden, enjoy refreshments and learn about the upcoming MG training.

Two locations are available for your convenience, one in Fairfield Bay at 115 Tall Pines Trail and one in Clinton at 1607 Shake Rag Road. Clinton is at the home of Cathy Farnell and her impressive gardens will not disappoint, and in Fairfield Bay is Eleanor Hilsenrath’s home and showcases many perennials in a charming woodland setting. Both gardens will be open 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, September 12. This is free to the public as a way of introducing you to our program.

Master Gardeners are volunteers from all walks of life who have an interest in gardening, a willingness to learn and a desire to help others solve their gardening problems. We support the community through our many projects. The statewide MG training is conducted by the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service and will take place on consecutive Wednesdays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., beginning Oct. 17 and ending Nov. 14 . Training is done virtually via computers and will be held at the Van Buren County Library, 289 Factory Road, in Clinton. Lunch will be provided. Applications will be available at both Garden Parties on Sept. 12 or can be emailed or mailed by contacting the Extension office at 501-745-7117.

If gardening and community service interest you, bring a friend and get to know the VBC Master Gardeners. We will be looking forward to meeting you. If you have any questions, contact Eleanor Hilsenrath at 501-253-7272.

The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture is an equal opportunity/equal access/affirmative action institution. If you require a reasonable accommodation to participate or need materials in another format, please contact your Extension office asap. Dial 711 for Arkansas Relay.
