Throughout the week the Northern Taurids Meteor Shower continues nightly. This long lasting, but weak, shower results as Earth passes through the path of periodic Comet 2P/Encke. Best viewing is to the south around 1 a.m.

The New Moon is official Wednesday at 10:02 a.m. and the darkest night of the month follows.
It’s busy at the Alread EHC building Thursday: Quilting, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.; Club’s monthly meeting, 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.; and ACRDC board meeting, 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.
It’s Recycling Day Saturday, 9 - 11 a.m., at the Alread Cafeteria.

Crabtree’s Senior Night Potluck has been cancelled for November due to the impending holidays.
Most of us dodged another predicted frost. I picked my last 2 okra today and a handful of green beans. I’ll get more beans, a banana pepper and 35 green tomatoes before the predicted hard freeze at the end of the week. My cool weather crops are developing nicely and I don’t remember a prettier autumn. Life is good.
