The National Weather Service, Little Rock, has placed north-central Arkansas in an area of "slight" risk as a band of thunderstorms is expected to cross the state Wednesday, March 13.

The storms are expected to begin in the western part of the state in the morning, reaching the Van Buren County area at roughly noon, with thunderstorms expected through about 3 p.m. Storms may linger through the evening, but are forecast to be out of the area by Thursday.

Damaging winds are a concern - it's expected to be windy Wednesday - with a chance of tornadoes embedded in the leading edge of thunderstorms.
